The girls’ track team competed in their final duel meet in the NBC. The girls won their final event 74-54 over host Canton South. The 4 x 800 relay team of Emily Fresenko, Emma Patterson, Kayla Gibson, and Morgan Cole started the meet winning with a time of 12:35.1. Fresenko returned and won the 1600m run with a season best time of 6:25.1. Kayla Gibson then picked up an individual win in the 400 meter dash with a time of 64.4. Caitlyn Gatta picked up a gold in the 800 meter run , with a lifetime best of 2:32.9. Emma Patterson gained the team’s final individual win on the track when she crossed the line in 14:31.6, which secured the Leopard’s victory. The final race of the day saw Emilee Mueller, Carleen Fouts, Savanah Elder, and Leana Barnes team up in the 4 x 400 relay and won with a time of 4:45.6. In the field events Makenna Jones claimed a victory in the High Jump with a leap of 4′ 10″. Emma Springer jumped her way to a victory in the Long Jump clearing a distance of 14′ 1″.
Other scorers for the Leopards were: Heather Guiley 2nd in the 100 hurdles, and 100 meter dash, Makenna Jones 3rd in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles, Kayla Gibson 3rd in the 100 meter dash, Grace Collins 2nd in the 1600m and 800 meters, Patterson 3rd in the 1600m and 800 meters, Leana Barnes 2nd in the 400m, Tessa Miller 3rd in the 400m, Destini Adorisio 2nd in the 300 hurdles and Long jump, Carleen Fouts 3rd in the the Long Jump and 200 meters, Caitlyn Gatta 3rd in the 3200m, Karli Miller 2nd in the High Jump and Lauren Wendt 3rd in the discus.
The team will be in action on Friday at Salem High School with the hopes of bringing home one final NBC Championship. Field events will begin at 4:00 and Runnign will begin at 5:00 with the girls’ 4 x 800 Relay.
